About Us

Quality personalized care, given with compassion and understanding, is an on-going tradition here at Sancta Maria. Sponsored by the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception, we are a 141-bed skilled nursing facility providing both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation in a truly caring, nurturing environment. All beds are Medicare and Medicaid certified.

As a member of the Catholic Health Care Association, we adhere to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. As a result, you will find a prescribed set of values and beliefs is intrinsically part of our management and operational style, which includes:

  • Dignity of the human being
  • Sanctity of life
  • Compassion
  • The fostering of comfort & wellness

Sancta Maria Nursing Facility has achieved the Joint Commission's Medicare/Medicaid Certification Long Term Care Accreditation, and is also an affiliate member of Covenant Health Systems, a Catholic health care system sponsoring hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living residences and other health and elder services throughout New England.

A History of Caring
Originally founded as a hospital in 1948 on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Sancta Maria was well known in greater Boston as the "Red Sox" hospital because so many members of the team - including Ted Williams, Tony Conigliaro and Walt Dropo - were cared for at Sancta Maria. The hospital was relocated to the present site in 1968, and converted to a skilled nursing facility in 1989. As a former hospital, our facility is fully-equipped and offers a number of built-in amenities not commonly found in nursing homes, such as a central oxygen system, comprehensive nursing stations on each floor and on-site examination rooms. This added functionality, along with some of the additional services located on-site, often provides enhanced levels of convenience to our Residents.
